SERVPRO has been redefining the mitigation and restoration. The National Training Center teaches restoration and mitigation skills to Franchise Owners and insurance industry employees. 

SERVPRO franchise receives a certificate after completion of course materials and an examination, Including; Crew Training, Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. 

A 15 day in-house, hands-on training program at our corporate training facility, designed primarily for franchise employees, Including; Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Mold Mitigation. 

The IICRC, or the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, is a certifying body for the cleaning and restoration industry. 

SERVPRO is an approved IICRC Training School that offers year-around classes in the following categories; Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Applied Structural Drying.

Water damage from neighbor Water damage from neighbor above.

I had water damage from a condo unit above mine and SERVPRO, Henry, came to my rescue. They were very timely in beginning the repairs and water clean up. Miguel was extremely helpful in providing pictures for my insurance and making sure that the entire damage was dried and restored. It was major damage and it took a few weeks from the day they showed up to the day it was finished. I will definitely keep them in mind for future issues.

My family and I recently moved to Signal Hill and installed new carpet throughout our home.  We have two family pets and one is an elderly rescue dog. Our dog has accidentally urinated through out the downstairs carpet causing a horrible odor.

I called SERVPRO because of their reputation for professionalism, service and results. This location did not disappoint! They were on time, professional and were able to answer all my questions and offer solutions for a very reasonable price.

My carpets seem new again and the odor is gone. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone

Water Pipe Burst In the crawl space repairing the busted pipe in Long Beach California

I had a water pipe burst in my house back in June. Initially had another mitigation company come as per recommendations from my plumber. Well that was a mistake. Then I was referred to SERVPRO. Which was a provider that worked with my insurance company. WOW. What a difference in work ethics. They came on time. Left on time. Cleaned up properly. Always called me to let me know when they would be coming. And tried everything to help save my walls and floors. Can not say enough about their hard work and professionalism. I recommend SERVPRO to all and next time I would not waist my time with any other company. Let's hope there is not going to be a next time.

They also dealt with my property management, keeping them informed and suggesting best practices for how to handle related repairs. All the employees at SERVPRO of Northwest Long Beach were efficient, professional, and friendly. Henry and his team always followed up on what they said they would do. I would very highly recommend them, and they will be the first people I call if I ever have any water-related issues again!

IT COST ME MORE IN THE LONG RUN.... I had clogged drain lines, a pipe broke and my business flooded, an absolute nightmare, the fear of closing for a long period of time forced me to hire cheap and get fast back to business. I was in a panic and could not afford to close shop. My plumbers did a great job! But, I had no clue the damage sitting water could cause, I learned the hard way. A month after the incident we began to smell a musty odor and continued to linger. Someone suggested that it could be a dead animal in the walls, or behind furniture. We decided to give it a good cleaning, we moved furniture to discover dark spotting outside the bathroom walls. We had MOLD! I decided to investigate as the issue was growing and learned that water is a SOLVENT! I had to call certified experts to resolve this as now my employees and customers would be at risk. Henry and his team came out right away, I was in a panic and their calm demeanor, professional tools and efficiency reassured me that everything would be done fast and RIGHT. Even after everything was done they followed up. I was in the loop with time frames and communication with Edward (Farmer’s agent) was great help in getting things processed with SERVPRO. In retrospect, I should have called SERVPRO at first to handle the flood, and avoid the mold. Henry and his team was great! Thank you!

At the end of a day, do you usually find yourself in the kitchen? It can be a wonderfully versatile place—a place for family and friends to gather, for quality time to be spent and where some delicious eats are cooked up. Yet, unfortunately, the kitchen is also the space where many home fires occur.

Cooking fires rank No. 1 as the source of home fires and injuries, with the leading cause of these kitchen fires reported as unattended cooking.

State Farm paid out over $130 million in homeowners insurance claims related to grease and other cooking fires in 2017. According to the insurance company, these are the worst states for kitchen fires:

  • North Carolina
  • Texas
  • Pennsylvania
  • California
  • Ohio
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • New York
  • Alabama
  • Georgia
Fire Safety Tips for Cooking

Staying in the kitchen while cooking is just one of the fire safety precautions you should be observing. Here are some other helpful tips to observe while cooking:

1. Watch the type of clothing you wear when cooking. Does your outfit have long, flowing sleeves or is it big and baggy? It could catch on fire if you aren’t careful while cooking over the stove. It’s best to wear short or close-fitted sleeve shirts and make sure any baggy shirts are tucked in or tied back.

2. Flammable items should be kept away from stovetop. Make sure you don’t have kitchen towels, oven mitts, appliance cords or even curtains too close to the stovetop when cooking. Ideally, anything flammable will be moved away from it.

3. Have your home equipped with a fire extinguisher in/near the kitchen. Hopefully you have at least one fire extinguisher located in your home, ideally one that is near your kitchen. Make sure you know how to properly use the extinguisher, just in case it is ever needed.

4. Resist from throwing hot grease into the garbage can. The grease may not be on fire, but it could be hot enough to cause something in the trash to burn. You should let the grease cool a bit and then dispose of it in an old coffee can. Also, know the smoke points of the oils you cook with. Be sure to never subject a low-smoke point oil to high heat when cooking, as it could catch fire.

5. Make sure there is a fire escape plan established. In the interest of safety, thinking about worst-case scenarios can prepare you and your family for emergency if one were to occur. Go over exit routes and designated meeting points with your family, making sure that everyone knows what to do.

SERVPRO of Northwest Long Beach had the great pleasure of being a Sponsor at the 4th Annual All Claims Golf Invitational and the Claims Professional Appreciation Night! Many of the best industry vendors gathered to support the festivities that took place on October 25, 2018.

The wonderful event was hosted by the Claims Education Panel in the City of Fullerton, at the beautiful Coyote Hills Golf Course.

In attendance, were over 300 claims professionals.  Festivities started at 9 am with a putting contest that lead into an exciting and competitive golf contest. Dinner proceeded afterwards that lead into rich networking, drinks from multiple bars, a cigar tent and over 300 prizes. DJ Chaz provides excellent music. 

The time and energy that it takes to educate prospective policy holders to choose the best for their unique lifestyle and property is hard work, not to mention the facilitation and project management involved when a claim is opened.
