SERVPRO stabilizing water damage

One of the most damaging and devastating things you can experience as a homeowner is water damage. Whether it is due to flooding, burst pipes, sewer backups, roof damage due to severe storms or a leaky toilet while you're out of town – all can cause major water damage in your home. No matter what the cause, it is important to have a plan of action and know what you should do if your house floods.

6 Things You Must Do After a Major Water Leak in Your Home

  1. Turn off water supply from main valve
  2. Turn off utilities/power
  3. Mop up excess water quickly only if clean or gray water*
  4. Move and clean clothes and rugs
  5. File your insurance claim as quickly as possible
  6. Document all items that have been damaged

If your property has water damage:

  • Contact SERVPRO for professional water damage restoration services
  • Open doors and closets to create air flow
  • Keep all draperies off the floor
  • Blot and/or mop water

If your property has water damage, DO NOT:

  • Enter a room with standing water if the electricity is on
  • Use any electronics if property is still wet
  • Clean mold yourself
  • Remove carpeting or other permanent flooring
  • Attempt to vacuum the water

*Clean water is from rain, condensation or leaky pipes. Gray water is slightly dirty water that comes from dishwashers, washing machines and clean toilets. Black water is considered sewage and contains waste, bacteria and other contaminants. DO NOT attempt to clean up black water as you will be harming your health.

Contact SERVPRO and we will make it "Like it never even happened."
